I think of the terms 'cub' , 'pup', 'kit', as colloquial/common terms for a species' young, not part of scientific nomenclature. Β
Your "no such thing" statement infers the premise that:Β Because Hyenas are not canids, therefore there young cannot be pups.Β
That presupposes that only canid young are called pups, which is not true. Seal young are not canids (they are more closely related to bears), yet the common term for their young is pup.
YouΒ are right about Hyena young being called cubs, but as a colloquial term for youngster, I think "Pups" is a fine title for this art.Β

Meh, it's just a thing to me to call animal young by their "species term", for lack of a better word. Seal pups, fox kits, wolf pups/cubs (I've heard both terms), hyenas cubs, etc.
