Hey, everyone! Please welcome a new WIP dragon design, Shirqi!

Shirqi belongs to the same project Marada and Hetra do. Hetra's development is currently halted, because I feel like there is something off about her design, but I cannot put my finger on it. Until I allow my brain to think that over in the background, I have started the design of the third important character of the bunch.

Shirqi is a member of the smallest dragon species on the planet (currently named "Campanadraco", not final yet). She is an omnivore and by far the best flier out of all the other dragons. Her hummingbird-like wing pair allows her to hover in place or navigate very precisely mid-air. During this, her massive wings fold around her body like a feathered skirt or bell, hence her species name. Yes, I know her wings are ridiculously small on those sketches, please bear with me. Her larger pair of uniquely built wings are for long distance flight and can achieve quite the traveling speed too, when needed. Unlike other wing types, Shirqi's wings evolved in a way that preserves the elongated fingers, just like in the case of a bat. Unlike bats, however, there is no one single membrane spread among the fingers, but rather this results in a three-layered ending of the wing. These endings can work in perfect unison, practically flattening together into a "normal wing", or spread out and move a bit more independently from each other, in order to better catch the currents. The more opened the three endings are, the more drag but also stronger flapping strength is achieved. This unique ability to basically freely alter what type of fliers they are, allowed Shirqi's species to be very wide-spread all across the lands of Great Avalon, baring incredibly dense forests, or far too open steppes where the wild winds could easily smack their frail body against the ground. Their small size and omnivore diet allow them to live in human settlements more easily too.

I had to figure out her head before anything else, as it would dictate the rest of her body's details down the line. And boy, let me tell you how hard that was. Shirqi is the emotional support of the group, as such, a dragon with a relatively flat face was needed. This allows me to draw her with very human expressions, with both eyes visible at most angles. If you ever tried to draw dragon expressions from a 3/4 side view, and with the usual snout-design, then you know what I am talking about.   It took me weeks of constant sketching before I finally found this admittedly simple but very effective design, after I have let go of the "must look like a traditional dragon" mindset. There is still a good chunk of work left, and I honestly have no damn idea what her color scheme even is, but I figured I would share the progress so far with you guys. Hope it was an interesting read! ^^

As always, I am very open for your thoughts on the design! And as an extra: what color scheme would you give her?

Let me know in the comments! Thank you and keep being awesome!
