Description A map of the setting of the highly excellent choose-your-own-adventure interactive fiction game "80 Days" (based on the Verne novel, naturally) which I highly recommend to everyone, particularly those interested in alternate history, which the game most assuredly is. It's a very original and well-thought-out world particularly noteworthy for its innovative spin on steampunk that focuses on the entire world, not just Europe. Man, they should pay me for this. Apparently I accidentally used an outdated basemap, which gives this map a "retro" look, I'm told, and now that I'm posting it here I notice many typos. Fun!

Amazing. Say, how Haiti's dominance affects the rest of Americas?

Thanks!

Haiti's influence is mostly economic, a lot like the US and European countries acted in Latin America in OTL - shenanigans with loans and debt, building the Panama Canal, etc. So I guess that things aren't too different for the rest of the Americas other than that Haiti is the one doing all that stuff rather than another country. So far, that is. The rumors that Haiti is planning to take over the continent to fuel their blood-drinking voodoo machines are probably wrong. Probably.

Interesting. I bet there's some alternate history author in this universe who wrote a dystopian book about a fascistic Greater Trans-American Haitian Empire against two similarly fascistic superpowers: the United Crowns of Eurasian Empire, led by the Romanov Dynasty, and the Millenial Empire of Zulu.

One must wonder how will the world look in the 20th century... or the 21st. On one hand, Russian Empire will clearly collapse, turn constitutional or communist. Also, with the existence of several very powerful African-descended states (Madagascar, Haiti, and, of course, the Zulu Federation, though I bet they'll collapse, given their very multi-national population), this means that European cultures and empires aren't the only in the world, which means that British India is going to collapse hilariously. In the 1900s, I bet.

And then World War comes around, even bloodier with all the mechas, and Haiti ends up DOMINANT ECONOMY OF THE WORLD. This will lead to some weird cultural dominance in the world. I wonder how Europeans react, given that they have to swim through a "Negro Canal" if they want to pass.

I'm actually working on a map of this setting 30 or 40 years into its future, which I hope to eventually post, and let's just say that European empires don't exactly fare well. Everyone in the game world seems to anticipate a world war to break out any day now, and with all the Weird Science and assorted doomsday devices at play in this world it's sure to be a doozy. There's also a keen sense throughout the game about the challenge to European hegemony and you can bet that'll translate into results when the war rolls around.
