Description 3 Years or 50? . That's all that seperates the two locomotives in the centre of this picture. However, the "Brittania" Class Pacific at left was destined to work for only 14-17 years. The English Electric Type 1 (Class 20) on the right still has representitives in mainline service today.

Class 20s seemed old back when I was a trainspotter! (1978 or so).

They're are a very 50's design, with one ended cabs, but like everything from then, built to last!

Still in active use now? Haven't seen one for a long time. Used to be an interesting diesel graveyard up at Old Oak Common, but they seem to have been tidying that up recently

Oh yes! The Twenty ain't dead yet!

DRS has a fleet used on Railhead Treament & Departmental work which can pop up around the network, I think NR might have one or two and Harry Needle Railroad Company certainly have at least one pair in Railfreight Grey which are mainline capable, as I've seen them running through Market Harborough to take up ballest work around London.

There's some curious sites to be seen around the nations networks, that's for sure. Between Derby and Burton their seems to be a good line of 56's and other machines of that age. Their was a dead 58 at Leicester long after the deopt closed, only went about five years ago
