Nice colour and focus. I like the curve formed by the petals.

Hey, the image show's you are a "flower person" deep down!! This is really stunning, you have picked out a special detail and used the lens as a tool to give the subject a brilliant background - sooooo much colour here.

Focus looks great to me here. Struggling?? Auto or manual or both?

Auto. I have tried to reproduce the same sort of shot as previously done with the 400d, i.e sunsets etc and trying shots like this [link] as I really love this misty/smokey looking water but in low light they just didn't seem in focus and sharp. Then I started to look at other shots I have taken during the day and some of those didn't look to good either. I was told to change my setting to spot metering so these last few have been using that and I think they seem better. Always seem to struggle with the focus points as well when looking through the view finder as when they are all lit up it seems to focus on everything obvious rather than what I think it should. So no been picking centre focus a bit more. Hope this sort of makes sense, I have so much to learn still but was starting to worry that there was a fault with camera but think its def user error.

Dude, send me the original file for this if you like and I'll take a look (email in notes) it seems very wrong. I think it's the extreme aperture setting you have used. It's set to f25 (according to metadata) which is way high (the higher you go the softer the image becomes due to Diffraction) for this type of shot I would use f11, f13 max. I assume you are on a tripod?

Much more than "okay", it a great shot with bokeh to die for. could be cropped square to lose the right hand quarter.

Haha funny you should say crop it square, I done that to it originally but thought after I done it that's its not something I ever do and people would say should of done it this way lol certainly would have been a bit better. Was worth playing the camera a bit on this one. I did sharpen it a bit in Photoshop but apart from that not allot else done to it. As I said it was an experiment really playing with focus again.
