i think these kind of shots depend a lot from a great sky back drop, all the striking ones i've seen have that, what do you think?

Yeh skies help to make a pic but to me so many photo's have very harsh skies so it was a nice change to have one that was nice and soft.

Yes I like it, sometime I want to get over the other side where the lights are in St Ives and try it from that direction.

Steve, from those two this one I like more. generaly speaking portrait oriented landscapes give much more dynamism to photo 'cause of compression effect it gives. sometimes that works, sometimes not. in this case it works. there are two things that could be done better. first composition. on the lower side of photo beetwen those rocks you have a small part of third rock which is disturbing. it happend to me many times that I cam e home and find out there is some disturbing branch or rock sticking in. it's 'cause you don't see 100% of scene through the viewfinder. mostly it's around 95-97%. that's why you need to double check by zooming in and out to see if all is ok. that way you want need to crop. second thing is the timing. you should have come earlier because the whole scene is too dark and it lacks contrast. those gradient filters will come in handy in situations like this. usualy I check in newspapers or on teletext or internet at what time sunrise and sunset begins. I'm there on location at least 20-30 min before so you can have enough comfort for shooting and trying different positions and angles.

Hi Steve,
Yep ... I think the effects work well enough in this context.
Whilst your shots continue to deliver a wow factor I'm certain people will continue to collect. If the effects were to become too familier, or too routine then there may be a danger that some viewers may tire and eventually choose to pass. To anyone who hasn't seen our work before then we're effectively as good as our last posted piece... and if it grabs them....
Please feel free to delete any critical comments I post. They are after all only an individuals opinion after all.
Hope you have a good week.
Cheers!
Dave.

Yeh I agree people become bored with the same thing, in saying that I put up which ones I like personally and if people fav then great if not then not to worry as long as I like the contents of my gallery amd can get some constructive comments then job done. I'm trying more nowadays to learn from what people are saying, i've given up trying to please others and worrying about favs and pageviews etc as you may have noticed there about 80 pics deleted from my gallery over the last few months. So my theory is I put up some pics get some feedback good or bad then prob delete them anyhow lol. No I wont delete any critical comments as its greatly appreciated.
