Description Made for the Fallen contest.

"Before our times, there was a place called the Sacred Land, where among humans lived the Holy Ones.
Though different outside, like brothers and sisters they cared for each other, and loved.
But the peace couldn't last, when the first had something that the other want.
So with the hatred and desire, the darkness has to came.

Heavens in anger tore apart, when brother against brother rushed to fight.
Blood was yet to shed, when suddenly from the Above the Voice came.
'Forgiveness through Dream to save all' - it said.
Except a child full of grief, they accepted the terms.

Sleepless the child wandered, unable to find what was lost already.
Yet ages had to past, when it finally agreed to close it's eyes.
So the New Dawn could come.
    And the child forget.

But on the other side, someone also wept.
Dreamed about the past, and never forget.
What he promised to always protect."

Thank you kindly <3 When I was drawing it I had the story in my mind. It was the first time I drew characters based on the story I created earlier, so for the first time a story not the drawing was my inspiration

kesbet In reply to Erintii [2016-06-08 05:40:31 +0000 UTC]

Stunning textures and creative variations in all the line designs. The cape is so incredible- my favorite part I think though it's hard to choose. Absolutely gorgeous style and composition!

kesbet In reply to Calmality [2016-06-06 06:46:05 +0000 UTC]

When I was finishing this piece, the cape was the last element to be done. When I saw what a huge difference for the whole drawing it was after adding all the details to it, I was shocked. The cape is also the strongest element for me, so I totaly understand why you like too

Thank you so much for leaving the comment. Your works are amazing for me, your ideas, style and understanding of colors is something, that one day I wish to recreate digitally in my own style!

It was the hardest part for me. I was so unsure what to do, wandering should I leave it so bright or should I make it darker like the rest...

I swear, this is a magnificent image- and the poetry is beautiful! It made me think of my son,Jeremiah! He is buried among the rabbis of the Chabad. They wanted him there because they thought him to be a martyr and saint. Maybe this is what they meant. This image  and your words are close to my soul- it's like you and he were talking to each other. I'm sorry- it's just that this creation struck me this way- please humor an old woman!

kesbet In reply to jeremiahkauffman [2016-05-18 23:39:49 +0000 UTC]

I spent some time on that 'poem', it was so difficult to write somethink like this in English. I'm so grateful you like it

The story is sad indeed, I would never asume it could bring so much feelings to the viewer. I believe artists understand each other better then non-artists, due to their inner, high sensitivity. I also believe our human world isn't the only one. Maybe we, as artists, do experience the other worlds, and we are able to meet. For me, death was never the end but the begining of something far greater and better that we can imagine. Our souls meet each other over and over, in different worlds, different times, what was once created cannot dissapear, will be forever. The only dissadvantage is that sometimes we have to wait for each other in that different world.

There is something great and good in the story I shared with you. The child will wake up again, and the other one will search for it and succeed. The lost world will rise again, and their grief will pass. What once was will be again, because the time is like a weel always going up and down, always in the move.

Have a great day

Man, just how many hours did you work on this piece? Your attention to details are mind boggling!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kesbet In reply to cokeboy [2016-05-18 23:52:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, with the traditional pieces like this it's hard to measure the time, but... I drew it in stages, with major and minor breaks only to look at the unfinished piece and think what to do next. The actual drawing took about 10-12 hours, but when counting also the thinking process - around 2 weeks.

To be honest, I love details, so thank you!

If you like this one, check the other in my gallery. You should like them too. Except this one, I reveal the story behind some of my drawings in the comments below, so you can read them too
