Description I was tagged by ~jodisamma to do this.

Without a ferther delay, here's my most favorite Studio Ghibli films.

#10. Ponyo- This is the movie that people think it's either a very weak film of Studio Ghibli, while others treat it like a classic.

Personally, I agree with both sides. The movie isn't as strong as the other Ghibli films, but it's still enjoyable and cute to watch.

#09. Kiki's Delivery Service: If you're tired of the same Sailor Moon knock-off magical girl shows, this film is a breather for you.
The film is a lot like a mix between the Wendy the Good Little Witch series, and the Sabrina Teenage Witch series.

And it is full of likable characters like Kiki, Tombo, Jiji (who might say is a lot like Salem), and Ursula.

*Now the next four films on the list, are the ones I haven't seen, but still would love to*

#08. Grave of the Fireflies: I've only seen clips of this movie on a YouTube video, and I see why the movie won for best tragedy film in an anime magazine I saw once.

I usually hate movies that make me cry, but I still would like to see this film.
And I love the tender sibling relationship between Seita and Setsuko.

#07. Castle in the Sky: I saw a trailer for this movie on my video of "Kiki's Delivery Service," and I've been dying to see it ever since I was 7.

Hopefully, I can get on DVD when there's a sale.

#06. Princess Mononoke: I've only seen fanart of this movie, and I was intreged by it.
Just by looking at the pictures, gives me a hunch that this movie would make "Disney's Pocahantus" and "Avatar" lick boot.

#05. The Cat Returns: I've only seen clips of the movie, and heard about what the flick's about.
And it does look like a film that I'll enjoy. With it being about a world of cats, humanxanthro romance, and a great cast of actors in the English dub (like Anne Hathaway and Tim Curry); I can't miss out on this.

*Now, I'm getting toward the big guns. And these, I did see, and glad that I did*

#04. The Secret World of Arrietty: I never got a chance to watch it in theaters (limited time theature), but I manage to buy it on DVD, and I ended up loving it.

It was a major comeback after "Ponyo," and I really love the beautifully illustrated backgrounds of many different point of views (like the Borrowers' visions of the world, a bird's eye view, and normal human sight).

As for the friendship between Arrietty and Shawn, I never found it creepy. I found it very touching because Arriety is like a guardian angel to Shawn, and she encouraged Shawn to brave (especially since he had to deal with heart-replacement).

I don't see them as a couple, just friends that share the same soul.

#03. My Neighbor Totoro: This movie was a big influence to my childhood, as well as the studio itself (Totoro is the mascot/icon of Ghibli, for heaven's sack).

Even John Lasster, the head of Pixar, loved the movie so much, it was the inspiration of why he wanted to be an animator (and it was cool for him to add Totoro as a cameo/extra in "Toy Story 3." ^^).

Plus, who doesn't love the adorable Totoro trio, the Cat-Bus, and the Soot sprites?

#02. Spirited Away: I watched the movie on a DVD that I rented from the liberary, and I felt like I wanted to keep it because I loved it so much (but I couldn't because it's a rule).

Glad that it has a big fandom, but it kind of makes me sad that most people who watched said that this film was the first/only Miyazaki film they've seen.

And the movie really did deserve that Academey Award.^^

#01. Howl's Moving Castle: I really love this movie!
It's original, beautifully animated, full of great characters, lovely background music, and an excellent cast of actors in the English version.

Sophie is so lucky to get a catch like Howl !

You know. I've seen Castle in the Sky, and it the sky version of Atlantis: The Lost Empire. It's a good. movie. I also think that Sheeta and Pazu make a cute couple.

Nice list. I absolutely love all of Miyazaki's films but Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind will always be my favorite (although technically, it was made before Studio Ghibli was formed but it is still my favorite with Princess Mononoke as a close second.)

From someone who admires and respects Miyazaki, I just HATE Howl's Moving Castle. While, yes, the animation is great, as you would expect, I found all of the characters not interesting and the story boring with no conviction, like he does not know how he wants to tell it. It felt like it was going all over the place. Spirted Away, on the other hand, is a masterpiece, one of the best films I've ever seen, and my second favorite Miyazaki film, like you. Princess Mononoke is #1 for me.

definatly watch Castle in the Sky, Cloris Leachmen and Mark Hamel really rock their voice in this movie, better then the japanese voices, but Sheeta and Patzu are better sounding in their Japanese voices.

Arrietty is already on DVD, since when???? (I must have itz)

Spirited away is good, but I find it hard to compare with Disneys best film Dumbo, Dreamworks best film Prince of Egypt and Dons best film NIMH
