Meet my new character Gen. 
He's from the new short story I'm writing, a slashed version of Beauty and the Beast.
Gwenhael means blessed and generous

Gen both is and isn't "Beauty". There's actually a female "Beauty" named Bella...sadly Adam the Beast just can't seem to fall in love with her even though she loves him. So Bella is sent away broken hearted and her good friend Gen the hunter goes to kill the beast...

Yep! And she wasn't really in love with Adam so much as in love with the concept of being the heroine of the story, haha. She was having her very own amazing and awesome romantic adventure. She was in the middle of a fairytale, one where she gets to be a princess at the end, and wear pretty dresses and read as many books as she wants while feasting on fabulous food....oh yeah, she was totally enjoying it and in the moment, so Adam's rejection comes as a huge shock to her. But yeah...she'll bounce back just fine.

(References allow me to extrapolate realistic lighting. I'm hoping to some day not need them at all, but I'm definitely not there yet.)

Yeah...my challenge for myself right now is to use a reference with the right basic face proportions or body structure, but then really alter and change the features to make them into the particular character I'm trying to recreate. As long as the features are somewhat similar and the face proportions are mostly the same, I've found I can really alter quite a bit. Eye brows, eye shape, eyelid type, cheekbones, bridge of nose, width of nostrils, shape of lips (but not width of mouth), type of chin, strengthen or soften the jaw line, completely change the ears. And of course the eyes themselves.Β
For the body, I've added and subtracted muscles and swapped out arms for a different pose, but I can't do too much drastic yet. I'm still trying to really learn the body in all it's incarnations of size, shape and muscle type.Β
Oh...and of course I add/subtract clothes and change the hair...(sometimes lighting the hair is my biggest nightmare!!)

Well...we just got over the biggest snowstorm we've had in...well as long as I can remember. SOOO much snow! I was shut in for a couple days, haha.Β

Yep...couldn't drive anywhere as I live on a somewhat dangerous hill...I didn't even have my snow boots or cold weather gear, so I couldn't go out to hike about in it. It would have been a serious work out anyways, the snow was DEEP.Β

No, I had enough food, lucky thing. I'd gone with my son to the store the night before to get some things...sadly I didn't pick up the full groceries I needed then, but I had no idea at the time that by the next day I wouldn't be able to go. So I had enough to eat, I just got really, really bored of it.

We had the internet and power....power was my biggest concern, because living in an apartment I don't have any way of heating this place without electricity. But yeah...the food I'd grabbed...there wasn't much variety, because I planned to do the rest of my shopping the next day....whoops.Β

Today it is just torrential rains and howling wind, hahaha! Actually it cleared up and we had sunny skies later in the day, but this morning was pretty fierce. Still for Oregonian's it's nothing. Driving full speed, no worries of water on the road...we only get scared of the frozen stuff.
