Backlit and formlight combination isnt for anyone, and most often its about taste whether it gets accepted or not, for me it works, you got my vote.

This is excellent for a first try. I just have a couple suggestions: one, the skin tone would benefit from a little bit of texture; and two, for some reason the face seems a little bit disproportionately large in comparison to the base and crown of the skull. I'm not really sure why, it could just be me.

great lighting, though I would say to practice on contrasting. Make some parts a bit darker and it would be spectacular! Great job!

I love the detail. For an imaginary character, you really seemed to have a clear picture in your mind, it's wonderful to see that you can portray it well. I love the detail for the hair, it's amazing, you can really get a true feeling for the way she likes her appearance. Even the makeup, it seems very realistic, which is a problem that so many artists never overcome, but you really nailed the eye makeup well. The only thing that I could really say to improve is that with the harsh lighting from the back, the shadows in the front should be a little harsher even with the second light that seems to be coming from the top right.
Either way, you did a great job, I absolutely love it!!!! (and I've never been able to touch on your skill, so feel free to ignore if you want to.)

I'd personally prefer if it had a tad more texture to the skin. That's about the only thing I can find.

I think it's a strong painting but some areas could be shadowed with harder edges, for example the eyes.

It's really good for a first portrait of this character ! thought some parts seems unnaturally blurry... the eyes, for example, look a lot more blurry than the hair, and since eyes are one of the main focus... but nice feeling here, her expression may be soft, but it convey something.
