Description

Raptors-of-kyturi are a family of dragons with raptorial forelimbs, while the middle and hind limbs are tooled for running. Raptors-of-Kyturi have minimal sexual dimorphism for dragons, with no notable size or mass differences aside from the males lacking horns, making them technically slightly lighter.

The hoofed raptor-of-kyturi (cruris venator "hoofed leg hunter") is a large (bison-sized) and fast apex predator which runs down even other, smaller predators. It is a fearless carnivore which will even pick fights with prey larger than itself. Its extremely powerful legs allow it to run up to 40 mph, even though it weighs around 1000 lbs on average. (in Earth's gravity)

Its jaws and raptorial forelimbs have similar crushing power, both at around 1200 PSI. The raptorial forelimbs are used to subdue struggling prey when the jaws alone aren't enough. For small, easy prey, the jaws are usually all that is needed.

Due to its size and apex predator status, it stands to reason that cruris venator is highly K-selected, which it is. It has a 20 month gestation period and almost always gives birth to twins. This species follows the Alkaverse dragon norm of giving birth out of the mouth, thanks to having a flexible, alkahetized ribcage.

The claws on the raptorial arms are actual claws on the hand segment, but are formed by osteoderms on the forearm section. The tail spikes are all osteoderms, and serve both a display role, and are also used in self-defense.
