they have more joints than we do. there's a good reference somewhere that shows all the joints and they have like this extra bend. it's weird. and most people are so unfamiliar with that fact that when you draw it correctly they'll be like "whoa what's wrong with her legs" and it makes me wanna be like "NOTHING WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOUR FACE" but yeah haha.
Pony anatomy man how does it work.

Actually they don't. A horses foreleg is identical to ours the only difference is in the length of each bone. Their finger bones are a lot longer and larger than ours and their "wrist" is a now more of a knee with a lot less bones in it and less of an ability to rotate or flex foward. The arm bone that connects to the shoulder is mostly buried in the body of the horse and is small while the forearm of the horse is much longer. But if you do a comparison of a human arm and a horse foreleg you will see they are very similar.
MLP characters on the other hand, have vastly flexible forelegs with strange griping abilities in their hooves. I always struggle when it comes time to make them do something my horses cannot do with their forelegs.

well, the anatomy is a little complicated because there a lot of elements and positions than technicaly are dificult. At least for me
