Pokemon Crystal was my very first pokemon game ever, and I LOVED playing as Kris. When the remake was announced, I was so excited to play as her again...but instead I got Lyra. Who looks like a clown. I'll never get over it... T.T

I think it's really funny people think the two gaming characters are different people. In the animation, they are. In the games and comics, I highly doubt it. In the comics, it is still Crystal. She's in diffferent clothes as shown in the game, HeartGold. Personally, the animated series is just a clever way to advertise and sell the games with as many "different" characters as possible to capture as much interest as they can.

i heard in Pokemon Special Adventure Manga HeartGold SoulSilver Chapter that Lyra appeared as crystal in her HG SS outfit

Haha, I caved and ordered HeartGold. I previously played my cousins's SoulSilver and it was really awesome, almost identical to the originals, just obviously remastered XD

Eh. I got the game now, and I don't really mind her all that much. In Poke'mon, you get used to seeing odd out of place characters very quickly. Besides, the ups of the new games by far outweigh the downs.
When Crystal came out, I played as Kris and enjoyed the sheer idea of having a choice in the matter. So, I think I'm going to play as the new girl, just for slight nostalgia.
Gold's new name is Ethan, though.

The girl from crystal is named Kris? How does everyone know this, she certainly wasn't in the anime at the time?
If I had a DS I'd totally get HG/SS (sadly I stopped playing and watching Pokemon in the GBA era). Simply because I'd like to see how they've done the Ash (or red/blue/satoshi/etc)x Misty scene. 10 years and the Gold/Silver characters are still older than the animes XD.

- Overgrown hat
- Awful, awful clothes. WTF? Little Bo Peep? Somebody was on drugs.
- Does not match with the main male character, as the usual REAL females do. So why the hell is she there? Doesn't belong at all.
- I think she's ugly in the face. In the official artwork. Fanarts make it better.
- She's overall horrendous.
That new girl needs to go back to the Miltank Farm and meet her father, Mario. And this is me not hating her because she replaced Crystal. But because, well, she's....there's no way I'm playing the game with that thing...they call a female protagonist. I'm playing the male this time despite me being female, Gold has a better new design.
This new Heart/Soul/whatever belongs in the clown shop.
She might have replaced Kris, but, really:

I like Soul....I never played crystal but I like Kris too....I mean, Soul isn't that bad. They're been different trainers right? Soul's one of them.

I guess I never got to know Kris like the rest of you because I never got Pokemon Crystal though I wanted it. I had Pokemon Gold & Silver and I told my dad that I wanted Crystal and he said that he ain't gonna pay 20-30 bucks for it (though it was used)

Kris is way better, in my opinion. i had the Crystal version game rather than gold/silver, but im still willing to give the new girl a chance. although, she looks like something out of a Mario game...poor Kris. GREAT drawing though!

And idk about most of you, but I'd give this new girl a chance.
I mean, I don't even know her sort of personality yet since the games aren't out. And since this is fourth gen, and the helping character (if you're a guy, this new girl is the helping character, like Dawn) will most likely have more dialogue telling us more about her.
As far as her appearance goes, it does look a lot more silly compared to everyone else, and I believe someone said earlier it doesn't fit with the "futuristic aesthetic". Well, that's the beauty of humans and their uniqueness. Some kids just don't fit in. And I'm guessing this girl's one of them. I'm one of those people who expresses myself through my hairstyle and clothing, and maybe GameFreak will do something similar with the new girl.
Besides, this deviation makes her look like an okay person, at least she's not in an 'in your face' attitude with Kris (or is she secretly, perhaps???) I still miss Kris though, and I like Kris's design much better than her. But I'm not in any position to hate the new kid. I've had some personal experience for being set apart just cuz i was the new guy...
But nevermind that, Gold and Silver remake finally woot!
