is this just a model or can it be scaled to be used as a full headpiece? (how large is the original design compared to an average human skull?)

That's weird, mine works fine. Maybe you want to try the one's at pepakura's website? They have this galery for papercrafts made with their software, my piece is somewhere inside the gallery.

For some reason this piece makes me want to go on a rant about armor making, please bear with me for a moment:
You could make this into a strong helmet by fiber-glassing the interior or making it out of EVA floor mats from harbor freight. These are the same method that I used to make my suit of Halo 3 armor. Sizing issues are nothing to worry about, the trial pep designer makes changing the scale easy.
Just some ideas, anyhow it looks fantastic nonetheless.

I didntΒ see your comment when I made mine above. I agree with being able to make this into a helmet/headress, and I will be using a fiberglass resin or similar hardener. I just need to know how much to scale the original in pepakuraΒ before I print it and start folding everything.. any ideas?

No problem, and I'm sure there are ways to get the needed materials in almost any country. The 405th.com site is devoted to armor making and it has plenty of users that are in countries with limited materials.
Take Care-

Is this wearable? Like life-size? Basically, can I run around in it with a cape on?

KevKoe In reply to weiusd [2011-12-20 03:36:42 +0000 UTC]
hmmm... i don't think so, it's too small i think. about 6.5 cm short of wearable size. W..Wait...You're planning to run around in it with a cape? XD

Where did the idea come from?

KevKoe In reply to Wolvencheif [2011-11-26 17:27:40 +0000 UTC]
Simple, just translating my 2D avatar into 3D stuff, in this case, it's papercraft.

Ah, i never been able to figure out how to make a Papercraft or Pepakura file from drawings. How would i make something in that program?

KevKoe In reply to Wolvencheif [2011-11-27 03:28:17 +0000 UTC]
you should start with google sketchup for 3D modeling, it is (i think) by far the easiest 3D modeling software. Then when you finish building your model, export it into .3ds and open it in pepakura then unfold and clean it. I'd start with sketch of what i want to build, three dimensionally before i do google sketchup modeling to get a sense of what shape i have to form in 3D modeling software.

Hi !
Which airbrush did you use, I plan on buying a copic airbrush system for my paparcrafts...
What do you recommend, have you ever used copic ?

I've used copic before, but i didn't know how they behave when airbrushed... i used normal airbrush with sakura poster color as it's paint.

I've got that exactly same problem, but then i realized... This habbit is going to get me dragged to stone age... and since then i try to push myself as far as i can. The result is as you can see... though it isn't very much compared to the pros... If you can concentrate on reaching single goal (after another) success is one step closer to you. Don't mind my babling... just some advice though..
