At least she doesn't have the same glaring weaknesses that the pathetic canon version of Yang did. Sure, the little "damage absorption-strength-amplifying" semblance might come in handy in a pinch, but as Taiyang stated before... it won't always save you.
I'll take a look, i'm definitely liking this version of Yang now, literally "like mother, like daughter" now. heh heh I'm so glad. ^^

Yeah I agree. I like Yang in og RWBY but I feel RWBY Alt gave her much more interesting goals and motivations. Positioning her as an anti hero and a foil to Ruby I thought was fascinating. I personally wouldn’t change much with her semblance, but I did think it would be cool to have it augment the strength and power of her blades. The way I saw it is that their power is similar to that of Kylo Ren’s unstable lightsaber crystal, where they blaze and flicker depending on Yangs emotional state in combat, which can then potentially be used to create shockwaves and energy blasts. (While I dislike the sequels and Kylo Ren, I can’t deny the unstable saber beam was a cool idea)

Basically the one-armed brawler version of Raven.
