The current state of the inks (obviously, I haven't finished the hair!) for an image of Magji I plan to use on the cover of issue #3 of Solo Flame.Yup, Zuri's not on the cover for this one. X3
Based on some REALLY old pictures in my gallery...years ago, I did a couple of pictures of long-haired girls laying on the ground with their hair splayed out (Leah's Zoiyendra and my Sakura). I hadn't done any pictures like that since, and I thought it would make for a nice cover idea for the next book (V can put text over the hair and such and there won't be any loss to important details! ^^).
All the pages for book 3 have been penciled out, and about 40% of it is now inked. All seems set in place for a release next year...though I DO also need to re-do both issues #1 and #2 for BlueScar's re-printing of them...plus, the extra stuff I need to put into the issue #1 re-print to fill up the pages. XD Yay!

I can just see the colours in this. 
colours I see are blacks, purples, blues, some
golden-yellows, a little bit of greens hues, maybe a
bit of red...maybe a slightly tanned skin...uumm...
maybe some pearly colours...or opal...what else...
whites...but not much...*shrugs* Can't think of any
other colours, except what I listed. 
You know what would look interesting? If you made
her hair look like the universe. Ya know, like at the
beginning of her hair, it would look like regular raven
black hair...but near the middle and end, stars would
emerge, and planets, galaxies, comets...maybe even
a faint view of the Milky Way...
But that's what my mind is thinkin'...I know your mind
is thinkin' something entirely different. And that's cool.

Actually - most of the colour scheme for this will be different shades of blue.

You know, if you kind of left the hair as is, made the underside all distinctly detailed and shadowed with the black, and used blue and white higher, the fade wouldn't distract so much from her. I'm afraid at this point, if you continued filling in the black, the frame of her face would take away from her...
Too much black, overpowering, and imbalanced I mean.
Since she is supposed to be the water goddess, I would suggest keeping her hair dark, but blue and lighter as it goes towards the top. Let it meld with the water she's immersed in. It would create a kind of magical effect, some dynamics with the flow (connectivity with water and hair), AND she won't look like she has a gigantic afro in the end

*sighs* I REALLY wish people would take notice of the 'crit discourage' message on the comment section. I KNOW you're offering advice on your POV, but for one thing - the black is part of the character't design...always HAS been. One of the reasons I don't want crit until it's finished is just because of that - nobody can see the final picture asides the artist - until it's actually finished.
If it was a pic I was looking for improvement on, I'd happily take crits. But this...really isn't one I'm looking onto for.
