This was taken just outside my house. I ran out with my camera and tripod, set it up, configured it it to take a 1/8th shot by changing the ISO, and opening the aperture to the widest possible on that lens. I could have made the shutter stay open longer but I don't think it would have been as good a pic - probably would have made it too blurry due to the snow. My lens has a hood though, so I didn't have issues with snow falling on the front of the lens, and the camera is a 1 Ds Mark II which has been built to withstand light weather conditions like snow or drizzle. If you're needing to take pictures in wet conditions, you can always use an umbrella

If you live in a country where you have lots of snow, it just becomes an everyday thing

Actually neither do I - I'm usually huddled around my heater watching it through the window I just had to go out and take this photo though, for the UK it was a rare snowfall.

Yeah this was outside my home in the UK. I'm currently residing in Norway where there's much much more snow!

Great photo! I love how you captured the snow streaking to the ground.

KeyszerS In reply to fireling [2011-05-22 17:15:41 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I had to use my tripod for this, and a slow shutter speed to get the streaking effects. I think I got it well
