I miss the 90's Superboy outfit, myself. Including that leather jacket with the golden S-shield on the back. Stylish and it just screamed 'Superboy' lol especially with all of that male teenage attitude he had. (Plus it just looked a good bit more up to date than the original Superman outfit which was originally made, what? Back in the 30's? Glad he got an update this year and got rid of the manties. )
As for his t-shirt, blue jeans, and dull brown boots outfit to the right, it does say a lot about how much he's grown and mellowed out with the years, no longer the flirtatous, horny, hot headed teen from the 90's. However, the outfit as a whole on the range of superhero outfits is pretty 'meh'. I mean, even Tim, his right hand man and best bud gave him a bit of a ribbing about it in one of the comics. (Then again, not like Tim's outfit at the time was much better. Well, the outfit was good... except that whole cowel on the head did not help his status among the fangirls. -_-U )

However, at the end of the day, I suppose it just boils down to personal preferance. Great you love his more bland look. As for me, I'll still miss his 90's outfit with the nonessential belts lol (which he even complains about in one of his issues).
