Kane again. Basically most of his story is told through his eyes. For the most part he's totally confused about what the hell is actually going on with his body. He doesn't really understand the changes.

"The Affliction" is a disease. Tranfered via sex. It manifests itself only when Adrenaline is released into the hosts system. Upon the release of the hormone, the subjects muscle efficiency is increased 10 fold, Their reaction times increase substantially, to the point where everything appears warped and slow. These bursts of strength, speed and agility are over the moment whatever triggered the Adreneline stops. In essence, You have to kill an Afflicted without them ever knowing, Since the moment they become aware of danger, they are nearly unstoppable. Wounds are ignored as if they didn't exsist, and heal much faster. The drawback is severe weakness after this overdrive of the body. The energy used needs to be topped up, otherwise the body goes into momentary shutdown, with severe headaches, stitches and muscle spasms.

Kane is Afflicted, but doesn't know it. In this shot, He's basically set upon by 5 guys. Muggers. The moment one of them assaults him, the world slows down in his eyes. He tries to be peaceful and makes a grab for one of the attackers. Gripping his wrist, as if to say, "stop". Not realising his own strength, the mans wrist splinters like dead wood. Kane sees the pain on the mans face before the man even registers it himself.

This punch, the one captured, basically snaps his jaw out of place, buckles the link between his skull and spine, And turns any flesh between the skin on his cheek, and the bone, Into a kind of spongey pulp. A few seconds later the guy lands about 4 meters away, convulsing violently and spitting up bile as his body goes into total shock.
