I shot this a couple years ago, and suddenly got the impulse to do some scanning.It was an assignment for my one and only photo class (unless you count 2 weeks at camp when I was 12).
Ironically, the most boring sounding assignment led to my favorite picture from that semester...
The assignment, as I remember it, was: "White. With texture"

I can see why this is a favorite. It is simple and beautiful. Beauty is where you find it, and so often depends on how you look and what you choose to see.

Wonderful object study. I like the tonal ranges found in the textures and varying luminance of the object. You did a great job.

I really like this, but I am a sucker for complex texture in general. In fact, I like seeing it in art nudes to contrast with the flow of smooth skin.

It's wasn't really stupid... There was a point. I was shooting film, black&white. It was about learning light and shadow, and not looking at the color of things... It just sounded really boring to me. And it was, at first. Eventually I got into it.
