I am so proud of this! Colored pencils are such fun and I really think I'm getting the hang of using them effectively.

Since the Monster High reboot, I've had a series of dreams about the man cast. I decided to mash them together, and now I have a reboot story of my own.

Rough synopsis:
Two hundred years ago, monsters and humans coexisted on very thin ice. A group of new age individuals, led by Count Dracula and the eccentric human Victor Frankenstein, decided to start an institute with the goal of promoting kinship and understanding between the two kinds. Long story short, that bright promise spiraled into disaster and many, including Dracula, fled during what would come to be known as the Great Monster Fright Flight.
Fast forward two centuries, monsters now live in hiding, and the human world knows almost nothing of their existence. One day, the count's adopted daughter, Draculaura, stumbles onto a collection of photo albums she's never seen before...and henceforth vows to find a way to bring monsters out of the dark again.

Frankie:
Frankie's parents also fled during the Fright Flight, migrating to America, where they settled in and intended to start their own family. However...something happened, although I'm not yet sure what, and Frankie woke up in an old laboratory, alone. A freak lightning strike broke through the damaged roof; she taught herself how to read, how to write and more importantly, how to wake up the eleven year old franken-brother on a slab next to hers. She combed through the manuals and books she could find, much like WtMH. However, this Frankie isn’t obsessed with science so much as she learned it through necessity. Between that and looking after her brother she feels far older than she is and is still very much figuring out what her interests actually are. Frankie actually named herself, pulling from the “Frankenstein” label on all these documents. (She might actually think Victor is her father.) She also named her brother, Bolt.
She’s probably the most maternal of the group so far, but also has a bit of a short fuse due to stress.

Clawdeen:
Like WtMH, Clawdeen and her family lived in a cave/den before being discovered. Maybe on the outskirts of suburbia, or in a more mountainous state. One thing leads to another and she catches some struggling professional’s eye. Suddenly the lights switch on: a real werewolf? My career is saved!
Clawdeen, though hesitant, ultimately accepts the opportunity, hoping for a better life for her mother and brothers. She quickly grows tired of the constant attention, and how careful she’s got to be among fans. Not sure if they’re trying to pass her off as a fake werewolf always in ‘costume’ during interviews or what…

Draculaura:
This Draculaura is only 116 years old. She was adopted by the Count sometime during the Great War and the two fled to America together. As a result she still possesses emotional ties to her human life and human parents and gets frustrated by her father's half-answers and protective nature. Draculaura also has a lot of trouble accessing her vampire powers; she still maintains her optimism but a part of her identifies with humans, largely in part because some of the monsters she's met have picked on her. She's desperate to belong and fit in, though she won't easily come out and say so, aloud.

Bolt:
Frankie's eleven year old brother. He's actually the one who notices Draculaura through the telescope in their laboratory. More reckless than Frankie he goes to investigate, unintentionally forcing his sister to follow. Their relationship is halfway between sibling and mother/son. He's got a gift for music--playing and modifying the instruments. He'll constantly experiment with ways to enhance their sound, including his own electricity. He's a little reckless and sometimes gets frustrated with his sister; there aren't any other monsters around his age. Clawdeen's brothers are nice but they're much younger, and the rest of the school is filled with teenagers.

Lagoona:
Lagoona is the first sea/lake/water monster to enroll at Monster High. Before her arrival, no one thought to add a swimming pool or water sports. Lagoona desires nothing more than to be the best athlete she can, but with the only real Monster School above ground she’s a literal fish out of water. Land gravity is very different than that under water. Needing a wheelchair or leg braces most of the time, she withdraws and becomes very awkward/frustrated. I imagine some time after this, the ghouls coax Lagoona into joining the swim team. It takes some time before she’s comfortable trusting herself–she knows how to swim of course but she’s still technically above ground and doesn’t want to embarrass herself or any teammates.

Cleo:
Cleo was the last dream I had, so I'm still working on her. I won't say too much because I'm still deciding, but she's the oldest of the ghouls and remembers what it was like to be alive. This actually helps her bond with Draculaura.
