When I saw the lineart of a young Lavi that *KaiSuki did, I just had to try my hand at coloring it. This one went pretty quickly, actually!EDIT: After TSI's comment on the lips, I tried fixing it. Hope it looks a little better. I also noticed that there should have been a cast shadow on the cloth, because of his hair. So I fixed that, too. /EDIT
Happy coincidence: I was showing my little sister (~Voici-Sophie ) how I was going to do the hair. On a separate layer, I put down some bright reds, oranges and purples. On the original hair layer, I just had a sort of reddish-brown. Afterwards, I played around a bit and happened to turn on the bright red hair layer and set it on multiply. 'Lo and behold, it looked pretty decent!
I ended up lowering the opacity on that layer and then put highlight and shadows on top.
Just goes to show that accidents can be a good thing, sometimes!

note for future:
rule with upward(or standard/normal) lighting:
upper lip is darkened, lower lip is lightened. the lip in this pic looks wonky cause the lower part is darkened and seems to sink inwards.
I do like the hair though. the time you say you put into it really shows in the results! ^^
