I put the brush on the picture and let it go where it wants. Then I modify them into something that makes more sense. ^^ I often make use of the hue/saturation menu to change colors.. sometimes I can start out by drawing a dark red wolf and end up with a grey one, or a blue one.. Actually, I have a lack of blue ones.. :: Digs around in folders..:: Just as well. xD It would die for lack of prey.

Pretty much. ^^ I play around, see how things look. Also, in my comic, markings usually have some sort of meaning.. for example, serene characters would have lots of round markings, very few jagged or pointy things. Meanwhile, complex characters whose inner selves are in turmoil or just plain unknown, or who are born for many different paths, often have swirls and especially difficult markings. Violent or hot-headed chars like Ire have a lot of jagged markings and very few round ones.. etc. But I try to avoid making each character a stock personality, so most of them have a mix of all the kinds of meaningful markings. It's up to the reader of the comic to try to decide what they're most like.

That ended up being a very long explanation. o.o

Well, "Switchblade" doesn't really fit in with all the other less typical names, like Kiravi, Danjien, Terrana, and Varian, heh. I may make a sub-culture that uses nature-based combination words like Leafbrook, or Scaleclaw. I dunno. x3
