Hola:

 Sigue asi!

How do you always get cityscapes to come out so well?  They always look so good!

Well, this time I used a photo reference for the background idea (from a picture of Santiago - Chile) , the rest is just interpretation
I guess it has helped me a lot to draw cityscapes in Derideal part 2 comics, I've tried to make the cities detailed enough to look better than my previous work in comics, it was very useful for me when I got to draw this background in particular, as I already knew how to make the buildings and place some lights to make it look good without drawing and drawing lines

How do you put in all those windows though?  I just want a giant meteor to hit me in the face every time I start doing stuff like that.  And when the meteor fails to follow my wishes I start making random blotches on the page.

it's just a little trick, I don't draw each window a the time, I tend to place lines.  Imagine vertical lines, then just place them where the window goes and use the eraser to segment the lines to make a dashed line, it will look like windows, just erase and give them the window feel, it's something I learned drawing my latest comic pages for Derideal (not published yet, I have to draw the entire chapter before it goes live)

I feel like such an idiot.  I have done that before with paper and pencil and it never crossed my mind that not only would it work digitally but it would work better.  I never even considered it as an option.  Im just going to go apply my face to my desk now.

well yeah, there're a lot more shortcuts you can do using digital tools than on paper, Drawing my comic pages takes me so long that I'm always looking for ways to draw stuff quickly and save me time to draw more pages (Sometimes I wish I could relax while drawing, but it always end up being sort of like a race to me when drawing my comics),  I guess you end up learning and making your own tricks with practice

It makes sense.  I guess it all just comes down to pure repetition and practice.

repetition as practice, and practice as study
