Oh my, there's been something I've been meaning to ask about this piece. Is that neat rough texture natural? It's most visible in Raichu's ear - it looks like of stones/gravel/scales. Is that the paper's tooth that the colors have puddled in? Although the paper has more ridged tooth in the lighter areas/whiteΒ so I wouldn't think so.Β I would just really love to know just how you did that. ;U;

It is natural yes, this was painted on cold pressed (rough) watercolour paper, which is the bumpiest of paper types as far as I know. The roughness is most visible on Raichu's ear because the paint separated and as you said, puddled into the grain of the paper. It does that sometimes, not all the time, for mostly dark paints. In particular grey watercolours will do that (it will separate into grey and blueish colours). It's less noticeable for lighter colours
