Description i was digging through a box o' stuff and found two of my older sketchbooks! some of their contents were post-worthy, and this is one such content! (i think i just invented a new definition for that word.)

thank you! i don't normally put so much detail into my artwork, simply because it's so time-consuming and i am not very patient, but when i do manage it i'm glad it's appreciated! ^^

thanks! trying out a new pen set. there are really only five colors in it (excluding the black for the pupil, but that wasn't part of the pen set)

Wow! Is that marker, or watercolor? Either way, this is an incredible piece of work. I am greatly impressed with your skill!

'tis marker. faber-castelle's terra set, to be precise.

the shading is a little off because i didn't take the time to plan it out beforehand, but that eye redeems the entire thing, don't you think? dragons and other reptilian things are sort of my specialty....

Panamatt In reply to Kielrae [2008-08-03 21:10:25 +0000 UTC]

The eye is very well done indeed, but what impresses me most about this piece is the fact that you didn't plan the shading out before hand. There aren't any lines at all; it looks like you just started with markers and went from there, and that impresses me a great deal.

I can tell that dragons are your thing. Me likes those things.

Kielrae In reply to Panamatt [2008-08-04 01:06:18 +0000 UTC]

my only pencil lines were the edges of the claws. i drew the eye and the dragon just sort of spread out from that point like a puddle. i had just gotten a new marker set, and my habit is to test out new things by drawing a dragon...

i try to know a little bit about everything, and a lot about a handful of things.

(i confess i don't know a whole lot about sports cars, but for some inexplicable reason i know a great deal about ferraris.)

Italian sports cars aren't very popular in the desert. I guess the dust does wierd things to them.

sorentense In reply to Kielrae [2008-08-17 00:24:55 +0000 UTC]

No, we have those out here. As well as malls, ice cream shops, hospitals, businesses, airports, etc. We even have a huge record o child-drownings because everybody seems to have a pool out back.

I said it was dry and dusty, not uncivilized.

Kielrae In reply to sorentense [2008-08-17 00:35:16 +0000 UTC]

huh. go figure. maybe sports cars aren't real prevalent cause few people can afford one? that's the way it is in south carolina...

(in menzoberranzan, there are no sports cars simply because it'd be a huge hassle to even get them there, and what would you do with them once they were there, anyway!?)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sorentense In reply to Kielrae [2008-08-17 00:39:07 +0000 UTC]

Actually, a lot of people in this area can afford really fancy sports cars. We live out in the suburbs near the golf course and state parks, where a lot of the rich old business men go to retire. Then there are the pro football players that own houses built right onto the mountatins.

True. The streets would be way too crowded.

Kielrae In reply to sorentense [2008-08-17 00:41:18 +0000 UTC]

plus, sports cars can't drive on walls and ceilings, which is a big turn-off in my book.

wouldn't it be cool to have a house that was at least partially carved right out of a mountain or cliff face?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sorentense In reply to Kielrae [2008-08-17 00:47:38 +0000 UTC]

we'll work on that.

Carved out of a mountain? A little home away from home?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kielrae In reply to sorentense [2008-08-17 00:57:03 +0000 UTC]

heh, i guess i still got a thing for being enclosed by stone.

but it would also be cool to have a big living room area right in the cliff face, where one wall is just a giant window and the other walls/ceiling/floor is natural stone. (this would have the best effect if the house is situated about halfway up the cliff face or near the top)
