i dunno if this is helpful or not, but here's how i do textures: i draw a bunch of lines, then i ink the ones that look good and erase the ones that don't.
er...i realize that's kind of dumb advice and it sounds like i'm being sarcastic, but that is seriously how i draw.
in fact, i think the secret to drawing is being able to tell what looks real. the only way i know to do that is to look at pictures of real things that act like the thing you're trying to draw--in the case of these wings, i referenced a wadded-up bedsheet draped over a chair.

me too, actually. my problem is i tend to draw the eye in the middle of the page, then the finished image is, of course, not centered. which drives me nuts unless i can crop it on the computer...

I like the detail on the wings, makes them look strong and powerful.
I should really upload some of my dragon pics that I draw randomly during classtime. However, I don't beleive any of them look this good!

i think it's cool when artists are into drawing dragons, it makes me happy to find dragon pictures and sculptures and stuff! and if you think yours don't look as good, that's probably temporary...i've been drawing dragons obsessively for a couple of years, so i've just had more practice, that's all. you should have seen my first attempt. geez, it looked like a lumpy crocodile. its legs weren't even bent the right way...

Yeah, that's a place I need to work on...the limbs. Something always never looks quite right. Oh and by the way, I just uploaded one of my dragon pics I did a few months ago, a dragon from the novel I am writing.
