I like the second one better. I find portrait badges sell/feel/look better than landscape.
Maybe whats bothering you is his little rocket is pointing one way and then hardedged against the logo of his job is quickly then pointing the other way. Maybe if you flipped him or moved the logo up a little bit?
Anyways another series of yours I think is so awesome!
