Description I took a 3 day sugar class at a local college from a well-known sugar artist, Ewlad Notter. This is one of the display pieces I made.
This is my favorite piece! I love all the colors. The fish is airbrushed. It's been over 2 years now, and I still have these sugar pieces on my shelf.

Wow... It looks like a glass sculpture
That's incredible, I'd LOVE to have a go with isomalt, I've heard Buddy (from Cake Boss, the TV series) talk about it and he uses it a lot, in particular on a coral reef cake. The things that he achieved with it PALE in comparison to this... Really is amazing!
I think your use of colour is really appropriate, even though you have very bright colours, you've also used realistic tones (in the green and clear/white) which makes the piece look real but still fantasy (fanta-sea? xD).

Absolutely stunning!

Thanks so much!

Isomalt is a pretty neat thing to work with. It is not very forgiving though. Personally, I prefer to work with fondant or gumpaste, but you can get amazingly different results with isomalt. For instance, the blue coral piece was achieved by pouring the melted isomalt into a bowl of sugar.

Amazing I get the feeling that isomalt is that type of media that's like "get it right or start over again!" hehe
I will have to try it one day

I am in love with this piece ... someday when I have the time I want to learn how to work with sugar in this way

Its so beautiful, I have seen professionals on tv make sugar sculptures and sometimes they don't come out nearly this beautiful! Great work, and beautiful bright colors!

Have the colors faded at all over time?

Thank you! It was a lot of fun to make.
The sugar has dulled, and is no longer shiny. It's an easy fix though, all I have to do is run a torch quickly over the piece and it will become shiny again. I just haven't gotten around to doing so.

That is impressive! were extra perservatives used? Or is it under glass in an area that's fairly dry and well away from direct sunlight? The bubbly technique you used for the coral is really neat!

Thanks. It's actually note made of regular sugar, but isomalt, which holds up better. But no, it's not covered or anything, but just on a bookshelf in my living room. lol
