I made up a back story for this one:Smaug claimed Bilbo as part of his hoard and has been keeping him in Erebor. Thorin and Gandalf bust in to save him! The first thing Thorin does is grab Bilbo and put the little hobbit behind himself. Gandalf is dual weilding like a BAMF. Here's the problem: Bilbo does not want to leave. Now he's upset and when Bilbo gets upset, Smaug gets absolutely FURIOUS. Who ever dares to upset his most valued treasure will die.
