I agree. It also takes away from the illusion that her face gives of being immobilized by shock. The problem is that you would need to crop the majority of the snake to cut out her hand, and it looks very stunted then.

I think this photo is great. The model's eyes, the placement of the snake, the lighting on the model's face.
The only constructive comment I would make on this photo is the hand on the snake... something about it distracts from the photo. Probably the white tips.
Overall, wonderful!
