rly, background hurr hurr, I'm flattered
Tracing is not my thing, I kind of see it as a form of cheating and at the same time I never like my results. Even though if it is a photo, and real life doesnt lie, I still think it looks weird and that I perhaps can do better without. Its hard to explain. But basically tracing to me is almost the same as those follow the numbers and dots drawings, where you follow dots with number on top of them and in the end it results in an image of Donald Duck or an Elephant or whatever. The whole process is a nobrainer, you just follow something without much thinking. Maybe your hand will get more sturdy from it and the line a bit better, but gaining knowledge of anatomy and whatnot requires practice with more thinking involved.
I cant really come up with a good method of improving, I'm such a impatient person that my methods are not to be recommended XD some artists are 90% practice and 10% talent. I'm not one of those, I rely heavily(if not too much) on my natural born skills rather than practice... I really should practice though... I'm just too lazy and impatient.
But if you want to know my most used method its: observe and incorporate.
Instead of copying a single image I study multiple images and try to incorporate the knowledge gained from observing into the image I'm working on.
<- he is my idol when it comes to coloring. Studying the works of your idols really helps too.

Haha xD i am one of those 10% talent or less persons XD but i am slowly getting better *A*.
When i draw a deviation like my latest 10? idk lol i use like 6 references to get 1 pose right well time will learn XD

6 refrences not bad, no one can blame you of copying and you learn something, you have to study 6 different images and incorporate that knowledge into what you are working on. Thats a great way to improve. I see allot of artists that only use one reference, its not even a reference, they have it in the background and draw on top of it. I think thats cheating in a way. But some make great artworks that way like

Yeah, it does feel sort of wrong. And I've seen allot of people who draws portraits and stuff, alway copying, and when they draw something original the anatomy is all wrong, as they haven't really learned anything about anatomy by copying.
