Description Soo hey. Guess who has no self-control whatsoever. This is my, what? 40th OC? Probably around that-ish.

She's for this  www.deviantart.com/blingwing/j…

*****

As the youngest of five siblings, and the only daughter of the family, Gladia has always had a lot to prove. Her family loved her, they still do, but she was born in a family of warriors, in a society that doesn’t think that women could, or should fight. Gladia quite disagreed with the notion, and set out to prove that she can, and will, be a warrior worthy of her family name.

Armed with rare power that allows her to summon weapons and blast enemies with high-condensed energy, Gladia fled to Magix and enrolled herself in Alfea in order to learn to control her magic. She would have preferred Red Fountain, but they hardly used magic at all.

Now, surrounded by young people from everywhere around, and free of the prejudices of her home, Gladia discovers that she doesn’t need to be violently masculine in order to be taken half-seriously and realizes that she maybe, a little, teeny-tiny bit actually enjoys fashion (a lot).

Rough around the edges and often coming off as aggressive, Gladia has had to be on guard her entire life in order to be able to follow her dreams in a society that ridiculed them. She comes off as gruff and mistrustful, weary of well-meaning words that will hurt anyway, and is ready to fight tooth and nail to be able to become what she desperately wants to be.

But, maybe here, in Alfea, she will actually be able to. Maybe she will even find friends who will help her along the way.

If she doesn’t scare them away with her personality that is.

(Be gentle, she’s just shy. She never had friends before, and genuine kindness and encouragement that comes without patronisation confuses her.)

She may come off as gruff and unfriendly at first, and she doesn’t speak much, but that is mostly caused by the fact that she finds herself in a place jarringly different, culture-wise, than the one she grew up in, and she’s afraid to not to make some serious blunder, as back home, if she did, she’d be ridiculed for it. Her life has made her jaded, and she’s not very fast to even listen to advice, as the only advice she’s ever really dealt with so far were ‘wear dresses, keep your hair long, pretend you’re not tall, and for god’s sake stop playing with swords already and find a good boy to marry!’. She’s very disciplined, however—the ridicule she had to live with back on her home planet made her difficult to offend. One the other hand, she herself may come off as offensive, with second-hand insults and her own thick head. She’s very disciplined, a tad shy and uncertain of new people, and actually really fond of cute things and elegant fashion, but due to her pragmatic nature, she’s perceived as aloof and intimidating. Her height doesn’t help.

Appearance-wise, Cahira never really fit the perfect female shape anyway. Her mother was of ordinary height and quite curvaceous, but every single child took after their father, a hulking behemoth of a man standing at almost 7ft, in physique. Cahira herself grew and grew and didn’t stop growing until she hit 190cm, an ‘height unbecoming of a young lady’, and she always gained muscle mass easier than fat, which made her figure to be lean, and then fit, and eventually muscled, instead of the expected soft, which scared a lot of the boys away from her, and made other girls not see her as one of them and therefore not include her in typical girly things like shopping.

Gladia eventually convinced herself that she didn’t want to go with them anyway, and that fashion was stupid and for girly-girls.

(She developed quite a complex about her appearance, due to being constantly ridiculed for her height and lack of 'softness'. She actually likes her body and wants to feel good about herself, but due to that ridicule, she always feels guilty for thinking positively about herself, and is instead quite self-conscious.)

Gladia’s powers are a little odd. Instead of being a typical emitter type, Gladia is a summoner type—she can summon (or create, depends on which magical theorist you’re asking) physical objects to use, but she needs to have a clear image in mind in order to be able to and if she summons a weapon, she needs to know how to use it, lest it’d be useless. She can shot beams of condensed energy, but that tires her out considerably faster, despite her impressive stamina.

Trivia:

- Gladia is exactly 190cm tall to the millimetre. It’s a little under 6ft3in. That does not stop her from wearing 3-inch heeled boots with platforms.

- Her real name is Cahira Vaughan, but she has since shed this name and took her favourite flower, Gladiolus, as her name instead. She doesn’t want to be found by her family all that much.

- On top of her height, she’s a literally walking wall of muscle. You can run into her, and she likely won’t budge. On top of that, she’ll be rather solid. And yes, she can bench-press you.

- She would love to have some small furry pet like a bunny or a cat.

- She’s considering inking gladiolus flowers onto her back.

- Her thematic flower is Espresso Gladiolus, with a hint of Fiorentina Gladiolus. Regardless the color, Gladioli flowers signify honour, remembrance, strength of character, faithfulness, sincerity and integrity, infatuation, and never giving up. Other than infatuation, Gladia fits every meaning.

- She’s 16 when she begins attending Alfea, and she was 14 when she decided she was done living on her home planet which tried very hard to shove her into a mould she really did not fit into.

- She misses her family from time to time, but she’s quick to remember all their well-meaning but hurtful words when she does, often causing her a whiplash—one moment she’ll be remembering her mother telling her a bedtime story, and the next she’ll remember being lectured on gaining too much muscle mass of all things.

- She was partly inspired by FFXV's Gladiolus Amicita. Meh-ish game, but great characters.

- Gladia's current appearance isn't her original one, she has gotten her hair and eyes permanently transmuted into a different, 'unnatural' coloring.

I'm not entirely sure Gladia counts as a black woman, as she's literally an alien, but I suppose if you want to see her like that, you're welcome to, it does fit I suppose. But then again, her power lies more in her story and strength of character.

Thank you! <3
