I shouldn't like (not in that wayΒ :I)Β a guy who killed a bunch of gypsies, almost drowned a baby, and burned all of Paris but Frollo is like
my favorite villain
even though he's a Disney Hitler

I'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks Frollo's like Hitler. In my book, he is the most evil Disney villain ever. Descendants got it all wrong with Maleficent.

Frollo by far is one of the stronger villain characters they has made.

Yeah, because there's no difference between a completely fictional character in a fictional setting, and the Nazis...

So evil is good as long as it's not real? Yay for logics!

Fictional things are neither good nor bad. They are made up, and, therefore, completely irrelevant .

GamziMakr In reply to killerinsight [2013-05-29 04:06:28 +0000 UTC]
Their irrelevance to our lives is noted and mostly true. Again, I'm not "dissing" Frollo, but I'm dissing somebody saying he should have won.
"Fictional things are neither good nor bad."
Harry Potter = good
Voldemort = bad
It's that simple. Benevolence and malevolence do not lose their attributes just because somebody is fictional. If Hitler was not real, and somebody had designed him as a character, he would still be very, very, very bad. Is this not logical?

I hate arguing straw men. Good or bad in the context of a fictional story is not the same as good or bad in reality. If you can't make the distinction, go back to school. Frollo isn't based on a real life character so your analogy is complete bs.

You're pretty funny when you think you know what's going on.
You're arguing something I've already said several times I was not talking about. That is not a strawman. If you're too full of yourself to accept the possibility that you misunderstood what I was saying, then all you will see are straw men. In reality, I'm merely saying that bad people in fiction aren't to be idolized, that they can't be good and evil at the same time, and that just because they're fictitious doesn't mean they're suddenly immune to the concept of good vs. evil.
I clearly make the distinction between fiction and non-fiction. But if I write a character that rapes millions of children, decapitates homosexuals, skins African Americans alive, boils puppies and kittens to death, burns lesbians to death, and personally murders Barack Obama on live television, you can't expect any decent person to idolize this character, to like them and "wish they won". I mean, he's not real, right? So let's make him the official mascot of the United Nations! Do they have to be "cool" to deserve this praise? For reals. XD
I really am surprised people are arguing for this. I'm done.

killerinsight In reply to GamziMakr [2013-05-30 04:54:12 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, because the character you just made up to represent some cartoonishly exaggerated concept of evil totally makes your point valid. Straw men = you misrepresenting your opponent's argument. I never said I idolize Frollo. I just said I wish he'd won. And, no, you DON'T make the distinction between fiction and non-fiction. You clearly demonstrated that by equating a fictional bad guy with the f'ing Nazis.

killerinsight In reply to GamziMakr [2013-05-30 04:50:22 +0000 UTC]
You started out as equating Frollo here with the Nazi. Now you are making some completely irrelevant to the discussion exaggeration of evil that somehow is supposed to prove your point about a completely different character, in addition to going from my "I wish he'd won" to me somehow idolizing him... I give up.
