Description

Winter was definitely not one of Aartarian's favorite seasons. While he had quite the menagerie of coats lined with faux fur to keep him warm, and thick boots to protect his feet from the cold, He would much rather stay inside curled up by his heater for the entirely of the snowy season. However, his notorious friend Lucifer seemed to have bigger plans for them on this day. Begrudgingly, Aart stood outside in the snow, glaring halfheartedly at his fiery friend. "So, why are we here again?" His tone mildly annoyed, mainly at the fact he was freezing while Lucifer and his flame abilities kept the blue canine warm. A mischievous came from the other male's muzzle and deep blue hues met with the aardwolf's crimson, a smirk forming on his muzzle. "Causing havoc like we always do of course." He crooned, pointing a spectral finger towards their targets. That's right, tomorrow was the festival to celebrate Wraithyr, and a grand strip of event booths and shops were being set up by many hard working Spectrels. The busy work looked absolutely boring from afar, but that grin on Lucifer's face never faded. He was up to something, and now Aartarian was interested. "See everybody setting things up for tomorrow?" The blue demon continued. "I think they need a break from being so serious. Whaddya say we liven things up a bit Aart? How's your snowball game?" Now he was starting to see why Lucifer wanted him out here. He couldn't start a snowball war alone now could he?

"Good as ever, but what about you? Don't tell me you need me to hurl the snow because your Spectra's too hot." He teased, getting a glare from the other who in turn flicked snow in his face with his tail. "That too hot for you Aarty?" A fair retort, though it didn't stop Aartarian from sputtering a bit and shaking the cold from his fur. A play fighting growl came from the slim hothead, and in return his red spectra claws dug into the powder and with a quick flinging upwards, he unleashed a hail of frozen white onto his partner in crime. To his disappointment, however, Lucifer melted the snow before it could even touch him, that shit grin still plastered on his face. "Aarty, you seem to forget I'm the hot one in this friendship." "Shut up! I'll show you hot!" Red tackled blue to the ground and with hand fulls of snow started to shove the icy substance into Lucifer's face and clothing. While it all turned to water pretty much as soon as it touched Lucifer, it didn't stop Aartarian from at least trying to make his friend as cold as he was. The scuffle ended in laughter, even if it looked as if they had been fighting, roughhousing was always how the boys settled their petty arguments about nothing. "So, what about this plan of yours? We gonna get this party started or not?" "Oh we will, but first I wanna set up for what's to come."

An hour passed, and between the two mischievous Spectrels, a snow fortress had been made complete with an icy wall that was made from Lucifer melting the snow and letting it freeze again. With cover up to their waists, and a bounty of snowballs these two were ready to plunge this festival into an all out snow war. “Ready Lu?” A nod from blue. “Oh hell yeah!” A grin from red. “Kay, on the count of three.” Snowballs were picked up by the pair, looks were exchanged and in unison they counted. “One, two, THREE!” A firestorm of snowballs rained down upon the innocent festival preparations and the citizens setting them up. Gasps and cries of surprise rung like a chorus in the pranksters’ ears. Their laughter loud and boisterous, was heard by the many who they had just declared a snow war upon. No sooner than the laughter ceasing did an opposing rain of icy balls come towards them and their fort. Quite a few hitting the red aardwolf, and one in particularly good shot nailing Lucifer right in the face. There was a pause between the trouble makers as Aartarian looked to his buddy, pointed a finger and laughed at him. Blue, of course, bemused with this, flicked the snow from his muzzle and stood to return fire.

The snowball fight lasted for what seemed to be a good few hours. While the two had successfully paused the setting up of the winter festival, they managed to pull the the people of their small town together in a moment of unconditional fun and togetherness. Dusk was upon the Spectrels, and once more Aartarian was starting to feel the frigid bite of the Winter. “Well that was fun, huh? Maybe next time we can do something like this in the summer.” He chuckled, the look Lucifer gave him was amusing. “Yeah, sure Aart, I’ll be sure to get a group together for sand ball fights.” “Shut up, you know what I meant!” Red playfully elbowed blue as both started home. Today had been a good day for the pranksters.

This was really fun to read! You're very good at describing what's going on, so even though I don't know much about any of the situation, I get to know the two characters pretty well!  I hope the friend you write it for also liked this short story as much as I did.  Have a hearty day!

This is good.

I would recommend formatting the text a bit differently, by having spaces between each new line. Ex:

Dusk was upon the Spectrels, and once more Aartarian was starting to feel the frigid bite of the Winter.

“Well that was fun, huh? Maybe next time we can do something like this in the summer.” He chuckled. The look Lucifer gave him was amusing.

“Yeah, sure Aart, I’ll be sure to get a group together for sand ball fights.”

“Shut up, you know what I meant!”

Red playfully elbowed blue as both started home. Today had been a good day for the pranksters.

I appreciate that you liked this piece, however I didn’t ask for a critique on this one as it was simply written for the fun of it. >,...,<‘’ I didn’t really want it to be looked at as a serious piece but thanks for the advice.
