I decided on the Kilroy pen name because of that WWII story, yes. WWII has always been a strong interest for me, especially the Pacific war, as that was where my grandpa served.Β

I'm very interested in it as well,but much more on the European side, possibly because that's where I live.
The only family member I knew was in said war was my grandpa,he was from Croatia but got deported by ze germans,he later joined the Italian resistance but he never told me anything about it,the only way I found out was pictures,letters and some kind of...certificate? A paper saying thanks and such for bravery blah blah can't remember anymore and my grandma took the papers away from me for some reason.
They don't want me to go and read his letters...
As for my knowledge of the Pacific war it's basically limited to "Japanese bomb the us navy,us navy then proceeds to almost eradicate the ijn from the face of earth,lots of cool naval battles"
And honestly I should look into that since I love WW2 Warships (but only ww2 warships) and the Pacific is where most of the action was.
What about your grandpa then? What was he?

Wow, how interesting! I've never known someone who fought in the resistance. Its crazy how you got to see some of the memorabilia of the past.
Yeah the pacific war was a real fistfight though, if I had to say something about it.
Sadly my grandpa passed away years ago. He was in the US Army and served in the opening campaigns of the Pacific war like Guadalcanal. He told stories of hand to hand combat with Japanese soldiers. My dad remembers playing with his purple heart, but the rest was always kept hidden. When he passed away my grandma buried everything with him, so all I have now are the stories.

Yeah, its the same for me. Its not something a lot of people understand where I am as well. Anime and war themes are my favorite, nearly all my drawings relate to it.

I have friends who are into the warfare aspect,but then they look down on me when they find out I like anime.Which most times they don't, since I don't parade it around, given that many people stopped talking to me after knowing.
