She confessed her love for me in our senior year of high school and we have been lovers friends ever since.
What I didn't expect was that that confession would be the limit of her courage.
She was actually an extremely shy and introverted girl who was afraid to even say a word to the cashier in the supermarket on a regular basis.
"How about going to the gym to improve your self-confidence?"
I said this to her three months ago.
Perhaps because of her own belief in self-improvement, she did. Once again, the results were beyond my imagination - just by working out in the gym in her free time for three months, she had gained a body with far more muscle mass than mine. But sadly, her shyness never improved.
Today, when the two of us walk down the street, she is still afraid to strike up a conversation with a stranger, even though she has a proud body, and instead hides behind me like a mountain squeezing my pinky finger so tightly that it hurts me hard.
