I think I'm finally ready to unveil this. I worked on it all weekend since school starts tomorrow and I wanted to get it out of the way (so I might not be very active on weekdays again). This is something I got the idea for in July, but I'm still not sure what I want to do with it. I think I wrote a journal about it, but I'm pretty sure only one or two people actually read it because I got hardly any feedback on whether this is a good idea or not. Writing this out in chapters doesn't sound very exciting because we all know the storyline already, which is also why drawing a comic doesn't appeal to me. I'm thinking what I'd like to do is take iconic images from the movie and redraw them using animals and landscapes native to North America rather than Africa.

I chose to make the equivalent of Zazu into a Canada goose because it's a bird most people identify with the continent, and I didn't think his character was quite majestic enough to be a bald eagle or something. Since there aren't any primates here, I made Rafiki a raccoon since they can use their hands and are kind of trickstery. The others were pretty obvious translations: lion - cougar, warthog - wild boar, meerkat - prairie dog.

So what do you think of the concept? Seriously this time.
