Thank you for such a lovely comment 💖💕 I think I’m a bit hesitant with contrasts so I’ll work on that so shadows can be distinguished at a distance ~ 💖

Hey, I'm here from ProjectComment!
This looks so amazing!! Absolutely gorgeous piece. The coloring is just beautiful and the smoke gives it such a cool effect! There's also a really interesting, almost grainy texture that I love. The shading is pleasing but not overwhelming, and I love how you used darker/lighter versions of the colors for the lineart. It's also really cool how you used a lighter outline for the smoke, which makes it look more transparent. The colors also all work really well together. I never realized pink and red could look so nice side by side, but here we are!
It's honestly hard to find anything to fix in this piece. The one thing I noticed was that the throat and Adam's apple seem big and almost bulging, especially when compared to the size of the body. The shading on the face is also a little strange sometimes-- the cheekbone is going straight down, and there's a single streak of highlight on his cheek, shading behind the eyes, and a dark line at the bottom of the chin, which makes it look a little square-like. Some of the locks of hair also move a little strangely, and it looks like they're being held up by something.
That's it, that's all I could think of! This is really impressive. Can I ask how you got such a cool texture for the whole thing? I've been trying to figure out how to do that Great job!!

Thank you! I’m glad you like the piece overall 💖 I think I find shading on the face quite tricky but your comment reminded me that I should practice that more, so thank you ~
For the grainy texture, I duplicated all my layers (In case I decide to tweak the layers later) and merged them. I’m using Procreate so I used “Noise” from the drop down menu under the magic wand symbol, and pick around 20% depending on how grainy I want the piece to be. Use lower for a subtle texture. I’m sure the same can be achieved in Photoshop and other art programs, you might need to look for a tutorial on it ~ 💕 hope that helps, I’m not the best at explaining.

Thank you so much 💕 I found profiles really tough, but practice makes perfect. And I’m sure you draw profiles very well in your style 💖 don’t give up ~

Heya! Coming in from
The simplicity of this image is what kinda drew me in to view it and gotta say it’s one of the strongest points here. This is a nice portrait, overall rather ordinary but you’ve made it a hundred times more interesting with the smoke. The expression added this pic really had the viewer ponder what’s going on – is he a smoker or is something of smoke consuming him from within. The smoke almost looks alive being so naturally flowy and I like how you can almost see him through it, but not quite clearly enough.
The color palette in the image is very calming and serene. Kudos on combining pink and red together so well. Every color complements one another, yet nothing is too much blended together.
I don’t have much to critique here – this is a coherent piece that serves the message nicely, simple but detailed. I can’t say I miss anything. The colors could be more contrasted, but that would change the atmosphere – here it’s dreamy and sort of foggy which I personally like. The only thing I noticed is his chin – compared to the rest of the face his chin looks too long – or as if his mouth was too far up.
It would be very interesting to see another picture paired with this – perhaps with a darker scene that would tell more of his story. But again – great piece!

Looks really cool! Great job on the smoke especially, I like the slightly abstracted look of it. Makes it feel really special ~
