Me too, and for context sake, i believe that now Salem is out of her tower, Emerald will try to flee and go to Atlas eventually, in order to find Cinder or ask team RWBY for help, after all, when she's with Salem, she's like a scaredy cat, but with Cinder, she's like a tiger; plus, there's no reason she would want to stay with the Grimm witch after the events of vol 6 and 7. I hope that her change will happen at vol 8

Of course, when it comes to Hazel, i'm certain he would understand cuz he knows how it feels to love someone like a family. And about Mercury, yeah that guy is the worst, but well he will find a way to redeem himself in some dramatic way, like every anime series.

This is so good, that it gave me an idea for an episode of the upcoming volume 8; feeling that without Cynder at salem's fortress, Emerald decided that she couldn't bear staying there any longer, so, once Salem left to invade Atlas, she sneaked away in the Mistral airship she and her group used to escape at the episode 3 of vol 6. She landed near Mantle and then stole some clothes of a clothing store, in order to walk through the city unnoticed. One day, she discovered team RWBY around and using some tuna she stole, she drawn Blake into a lone alley. Finally she appeared behind blake and surprising her, the faunus girl drawn her weapons and inquired about her. Then with her face under a hood, she uncovered and revealed herself to Blake, saying hello and asking for her and her friends help. What do you guys think? Not a bad idea, right? Who supports me on this?
