Your sketches remind me of my own FAIL sketches...though those FAIL sketches are very dirty, and full of scribbles and such (I sketch on scratch paper)

That's not a bad idea.
I always start with light-drawn sketches for easy to erase if somehow my drawing doesn't feel right. For me scratch papers are used to create my idea on how to draw things that I wanted to draw.
