Description Because Context IEverything:

In the Realm, Sapliniers are best known for two things. Lazying about in the sun and their long hair.

Like the branches of a tree, each strand of hair on a Saplinier's scalp is alive and just as sensitive as your own fingers. Cutting a single strand imparts as much pain as cutting an arm off. So Sapliniers leave their hair to grow undisturbed throughout their entire lives. Which are incidentally very, very long.

Sapliniers live for hundreds of years, but rarely outside of their home forests. Their habits prevent them from becoming valued contributors to other societies in the Realm. An average day for a Saplinier would begin a couple of hours after lunch when she'd wake up just in time for her midday nap. After napping for another set of hours, she'd walk around the primitive settlement she and the other Sapliniers shared. She'd socialize for an hour, two at most, and then she'd go back to bed in preparation for the next day.

Because Sapliniers spend a majority of their lives in the warm embrace of the sun, some have theorized that their hair is not just alive, but photosynthetic. That would also explain why very few have ever seen them eat anything. Although a few people claim to have seen them eat what they suppose to be either dirt or mud...

If you think about it, Sapliniers are more similar to walking, talking trees than Humies.

----

And that just about covers the Sapliniers. One of the more interesting races in the Realm. Especially when you consider how they reproduce, but I won't tell you that in this description, because it borders on some rather pervy speculative fantasy fiction

Cute ^^ it kind of reminds me of tha Jungle de Ikou girl...Mii I think
Also, I love your description your humanization of plants is awesome. I like how they differ from your usual Dryad cliche...although I thought I repeated this in the fungi girl ^^"

Anyways, it's nice to finally see the so mentioned Saplinier and the TG you made from it is nice too

I think I can guess how Sapliniers would reproduce, but I'm not going to say anything without your permission.

Shoot!
My made-up method is pretty kinky on its own but if yours is better, I can change it to that

Well I don't know what idea you had, but I just thought about the way normal plants reproduce, and the fact that they apparently have some kind of relationship with domestic Swarmlings, and put two and two together.

In other words, they just grow crotch fruits instead of getting pregnant, if you get my meaning.

By the way, do they all appear to be female, or just some of them?

They have two sexes, like any animal. But females don't give birth to babies or even eggs. They give birth to seeds which are about the size of a large lemon, they then plant that seed into the ground and ten years later you have a child Saplinier!

I still like your idea but it feels more fitting to some flower-based creature instead of these trees

I just thought it would make sense because all seeds need to be pollinated in order to grow into a plant. It would also account for the "pervy speculative fiction" because it would mean they've always got little Swarmlings licking their "genitals" for nectar, and apparently there would be male pregnancy because plants are hermaphrodites.

I get what you're saying about flower people, but at the same time most trees have flowers anyway, so that doesn't necessarily rule it out as a possibility.

Well, there are plants with two separate sexes as well, or something along those lines. Either way pollination works pretty much just like animal fertilization so if trees were able to move around, they wouldn't need bees.

But as I said, I really like this idea of yours so if you come up with a race that uses it, feel free to include it to the open universe thing that the Gateworld is

what would happen if all there hair was cut off or at least made very short? would they die?

KimRinzley In reply to 124455433 [2015-10-26 16:33:14 +0000 UTC]

They would quite probably die of shock0. Although just like how anyone can survive having their legs cut of and keep living, the Sapliniers can survive a hair cut as well.

i meant like General Mythos but you already have that so never mind. i have something i would like to submit to your group how do i do that

KimRinzley In reply to 124455433 [2015-10-27 13:05:51 +0000 UTC]

First, you need to upload it to deviantArt and then you can add it to the group by using the Add to a Group-function on that deviation's page. Or you can just upload it to dA and tell me to submit it to the group

Probably. As long as they're in sunlight the Sapliniers are happy to do anything, like inverse vampires.

That's funny, because I actually think the Hoblin girl looks more like Grace. What with the hair and junk ^^

creodont In reply to KimRinzley [2015-01-11 23:57:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but the Hoblin girl looks a lot younger than Grace and also I tend to associate Grace as having more of a flowing mane of hair, like this picture.
