for a poem by my friend Sam

It won’t be long before your injustice
Paints the inside of my mouth—
The walls behind my cheeks,
The surface of my tongue,
And even the roof of my mouth—
With the sour aftertaste
That will ooze its way past my lips
In any possible way it can.

I will begin to weave tales—
Stories of malice and such—
That I shall recite for all.
Those who hear are cheated by my tongue,
For what comes from my mouth,
Far from the untrue gossip
They so love to swallow,
Are all tales of truth.

But then again, the question is,
Why should you believe me?
Why should you readily accept
What I say to be true?

In anger and in hate
The sour aftertaste burns
My once pure mouth
And its sickening smell
Befouls my insides.
I am caused to regurgitate falsehoods,
Spit deceit,
And vomit lies.

I shall cause you injustice
With my tongue
Until the aftertaste
Is gone.

the drawing was made sometime last week. its a pretty accurate illustration of the esophagus w/c i didnt know was attatched to the spinal column. wow. haha
