Lightning Dust was born days after her parents wedding. She grew up in a very broken home. She, just like her younger sister Wind Sprint, idolized her father, becoming much like him, much to Clear Sky's dismay. When Clear Sky learned when she was pregnant again, she knew she couldn't bring her second child up like she did Lightning. Divorcing Wind Rider when Wind Sprint was still very young, she left him to live a simpler, happier life. She begged Lightning to come with her, but the stubborn filly thought her mother was the one tearing the family apart, not her father. She stayed with Wind Rider, and he trained her to push her limits, and to achieve greatness by any means necessary. When she blew her chance at being a Wonderbolt, Wind Rider threw Lightning out of the house. She started her group the Washouts in an attempt to redeem herself in his eyes.
