Description

I wanted to start off this new year right, so not only did I launch into a more complex picture, but I'll be starting a series of Kingdom Hearts pictures, Kingdom Hearts World Tour! My plan is to at least once a month tap into Disney movies that haven't crossed over with the KH universe and show my take on what might happen. I already have several ideas and I'm pretty excited to work on them. Hopefully you enjoy too!

Song of the South, 1946

Even though Song of the South itself is swept under the rug, I feel like Disney tries it's best to keep the movie alive. Br'er Rabbit and friends have appeared in House of Mouse and Disney Kinect Adventures, they have their stories told in Splash Mountain and are Meet-and-Greet characters at the Disney parks, and who doesn't know Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah? They may not be the most likely characters to appear in Kingdom Hearts, but I don't think it's entirely impossible!

In this scenario, the Briar Patch is in the woods outside of Disney Castle, and like Disney Town it is less about story and battles and more about fun and games. Sora meets Br'er Rabbit while he is escaping from Br'er Fox and Bear, and the boys end up helping the bunny out of trouble again and again. Find your laughing place, Br'er Rabbit!

I'm don't think that's gonna happen sadly. Because the film was criticizes for being racist due to story of blacks as slaves in that time. But they were treated more like family instead of being abuse. I think the film was more kind-hearted and light enough for children to enjoy. Not to mention this movie was done back in the 40s so of course it would a little racist, but it was kid-friendly and enjoyable to watch. But despite all that, I don't think there gonna put in the game though.

Yeah, if it happened at all they definitely wouldn't mention the movie. They could potentially get away with it if they stayed more with the idea of Splash mountain's story, or just had the characters do their own thing. Who knows?

this would be a world I would love to see in Kingdom hearts.  I imagined a scenario where you meet Uncle Remus in a Princess and the Frog world where he tells you B'rer Rabbit's stories, which function sorta like Winnie the Pooh's book.  Each time you go, he tells you a new story.  Gotta be at least one mini-boss fight with B'rer Fox and B'rer Bear, which probably wouldn't be too hard.

Oooooh gosh I really like that idea, it would strike a great balance between the movie and the game settings!

I own a copy of Song of the South and honestly, I see nothing wrong with it. Granted I am not American but its still a part of American history. It should not be glorified but should not be ignored or hidden either. All cultures have a dark past. Hell, England is no butterfly when it comes to slavery.

Walt Disney took that corner of dark history and lightened it. There was no whippings or hangings in the film and the "slaves" in the film were treated practically like family. I really wish people would enjoy films for what they are and stop looking for hidden agends, meanings and symbolisms that probably are not there. Embrace and learn from the past and stop making it like it never happen.

it was a great film. It has a great story and moral that people miss because they can not get past the time period. I watch it about once a month and love it. Thanks for bringing this FEATURE film out of the closet and I encourage more art from the movie.

Looks great!
It's hard to know how people feel about this movie today.  As it's the "forbidden movie" most only know what they've heard, and what's heard isn't great, but with the internet I think people are starting to come around.  I think the song won Academy Award or something, and it gets played in the world a LOT - it's practically the World's theme song.

Do you think they'd ever have the balls to remake this movie with modern attitudes?  I know Uncle Remus was prolly the best part.   What do you think was the theme of the movie?  That the guy who works for you knows your kids better than the parents do?  Like a male Mary Poppins?  Or don't live next to crazy bulls?

Would be nice to see at least these animated characters get a revival or something - don't know if there's any cultural taboos with them - I'm still waiting for more Oswald cartoons!  If Roger, Br'er, and Oswald walked into a bar...

I absolutely love this, and now I'm starting to get my hopes up to see this in the game! ... Even though I know it's not going to happen.

Awesome, man. Just awesome.

The cartoons were the only worth while thing in that entire movie. Br'er Rabbit was adorable, and Br'er Fox was the real star of the show.
