well as you can see here i have different layers for each shape and then i use clipping groups to create shading :0
the front and back legs have different layers, the fluff is in a group of its own, etc and i traced all the shapes from the sketch which i placed on top and lowered its opacity

this is like the only time i intentionally tried to draw something to be coded as "fluffy"
not complaining when people think my fur looks fluffy though :0
