I have a good camera -- that's a must. Then I just took a close-up photo with the focus set on automatic, and cropped it in closely on the eye only. Then just colour balanced in PhotoShop. Sometimes it turns out, sometimes not. I took a good 30 before getting these guys.

I didn't colour it, I just balanced it so that the whites were white and the blacks were black. The flash washed the whole picture out a little, so I just balanced to colour back to what it should be.
