Oh boy.... this is gonna be one touchy subject, really trading on thin ice with the fandom that this concerns with here.so something that is kinda annoying in the pokemon fandom is the rabid pokeshippers out there. Who don't seem to get that there will never be a true canon pairing within the main characters.
definitely No ash x misty (she ain't coming back genwunners, never gonna happen)
ash x may (just friends)
ash x dawn (they had a more teacher and pupil relationship)
especially no ash x iris (i'm pretty sure if ash was real he would not even want her anime incarnation around anyways)
and not even ash x serena (she may have a crush on him, but sadly it is inevitable that it will not happen and they will part ways once kalos is finished)
not even jessie and james are a canon relationship. and since pokemon isn't about romance and more about kids using ultra powerful animals for various things, its never gonna have a real romance thing going on. hell any time they touch on it, its either romance between minor characters in a one off episode, or used as the running gags of Brock and Bonnie (both of which are unsuscessful, brock getting either pulled away or stabbed by a croagunk with any advance toward a woman, and bonnie being dragged away by her brother for trying to hit on girls on clemont's behalf)
Truth is really, each new saga will have a new female character for ash to travel with, and they'll remain in the same friend zone as everyone else has had, that's just how the anime is really. none of the main characters will fall in love, besides brocks ridiculous infatuations, which are never returned cause that was his running gag.
I've been wanting to touch on this subject for a very long time, but put it off cause well, rabies will attack me over their otps. not saying you cannot have a pairing headcanon, but its just never going to happen in the anime, ever... just the truth of the matter. cause hey even though i do like the whole Serena having a crush on ash thing, we all know ash is too oblivious to notice, and that its inevitable that they will very likely go their separate ways once the possible 7th gen comes out possibly next year, then we'll have another obligatory female game character to act as the female lead.

I stopped watching the Pokemon Anime because of the anime's fanbase and their shipping wars. Sure, I do ship AmourShipping, but at least I respect others opinions. Believe me, love is a powerful emotion, so powerful it can sweeten a fart, but when the Love Triangle/Dodecahedron goes too far and creates a Romantic Plot Tumor, and when the shipping wars get intense from there, even up to the point where fans blame the main character in a love triangle for something that can be easily blamed on the writers (e.g. Regular Show, Pokemon Anime, Sonic) that's when I lose all interest in the show or hate it, then I stop watching the show. Face it, Regular Show and Pokemon's anime are downright DEAD to me now because of this. If those romance obsessed writers were replaced with better writers who don't focus on romance 24/7, then there's a chance I'll go back to watching these shows.

shipping is actually not a part of the kalos saga really, only a few episodes have had it, but it never went anywhere because ash is oblivious to serena's feelings. But really the writers in kalos are doing a much better job than the unova writers tbh

I agree that some will surely never happen (Ash x Iris being the most obvious one, no offense to Negaishippers through), I myself support (well, only on my side) Ash x Serena (my favourite), Ash x Dawn and Ash x May.
But we all know Ash is stupid, right ? So maybe the girl travelling partner deserves another boy than a stupid blind one, after all, right ?

tbh there isn't a lot you're missing in kalos, it may be better than unova, but its a lil stale since most episodes between gyms are all the same

Well, no one says there has to be a focus on romance if say AmourShipping actually became canon. The Garfield comics still manage to go on while Jon and Liz are in a relationship without a hitch. Jon and Liz's relationship isn't necessarily a focus so much as more material for comic relief. This alone proves that shipping can still be canon even if it's not supposed to be focused on. It can probably be some kind of drive, motivation, or something. There's also the anime Sonic X, even though nobody really liked it, one reason probably having Chris as the Jar-Jar Binks of Sonic the Hedgehog in the sense of getting in the way. But in the Japanese version of Season 3 at least, Tails and Cosmo had a sort of love for each other that became a driving force during the final showdown.
Case in point, shipping in a cartoon that doesn't necessary focus on romance is in fact possible and it works if it's a driving force for something, like in Steven Universe, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Super Paper Mario in a way, and of course Kingdom Hearts. You can't argue that Sora and Kairi shipping would ruin something as God-awesome as Kingdom Hearts, especially because Kairi IS one of Sora's driving forces. Hell, in Avatar: The Last Airbender, no words were needed in Aang and Katara's last scene. Point being, you can have romance in a cartoon without it being a focal point and I get the impression that the reason we're supposed to think that AmourShipping won't work is because it would have to be a focus. And not even Kingdom Hearts focuses on Sora and Kairi's relationship when it's remotely obvious that they not only care about each other, but they both think the other person is the most important in their whole lives. AmourShipping may not come to be, but that doesn't mean there's no chance. There is, even if it's very, very slim. And it will either happen or it will not. But we don't have to doubt because at least I believe there's a chance. We should at least give it a chance. It's a chance nonetheless. Period.

While I personally want Ash X Serena to become canon to break another mold, unfortunately the entire anime itself has some strong strictness. Romance is not the thing. It's about human and Pokemon relationship, battles, etc.
About the relationships with female companions, I would rank and evaluate the odds, sorry for the Day Care Man pun (although they're all very unlikely to be canon):
1st: Serena: The two seem to get along very well!
2nd: Dawn: The two seem to get along.
3rd: Misty: The two seem have interest with each other.
4th: May: The two only seem to be friendly with each other very much.
5th: Iris: The two prefer to play with the others more than with each other.

I know the fandom is such a pain with shipping,I normally dont watch the anime but the pictures and also the infos are everywhere.Some fans think their actual shipping pair is the best but Ash never will get a love when he never grows.Serena is the first one who can handle with love better than the other girls before.She knows what she wants from a man but there is still one problem.Ash won't become the grown up black haired man she is dreaming also every fangirl should give up,the show is running since years and mostly all anime characters except Ash got older.

Yeah, I kinda agree. Amourshipping seems more canon compared tot he other shippings, but that doesn't make it officially canon, and that's coming from an Amourshipper with a little remaining side of a Pearlshipper

The show does have a bit of romance from time to time, but for the main characters. Anyway, I agree with you one this. The main anime of Pokemon is a series that is a pretty much a commercial for the games. The won't really go over their boundaries any time soon.

The change the wrong things in there. What killed unova is that you were force to go through a linear path, and the story was really short because of it. It's over before you even know it. Pokemon is about making your own adventure with the creatures you choose by your side. That was taken away in Unova. You can never satisfy everyone, but at least make people satisfied of something that is good.
The characters don't have much to go with really. Ash is single-minded, pikachu does what he wants, Jessy and James go through things that are soon forgotten about and almost always lose in the same way. I just wish the anime wasn't so predictable so often.
