Description Final version of my Red Monika pic.  The more time I spent on it, the more I saw that needed to be done, so I had to tell myself (as usual) that I was finished.  Red Monika © Joe Madureira

WHOA dude, you were not kidding around when you said you were doing some colors on this picture, this is amazing!

My comment here follows Big Cee in terms of how pleasing a sight like this is and just watching the picture bounce off the screen even more then before, hats off to you already dude.  Do promise to not get into the same details as I covered before but just as well I still have to mention the colors and how impressive they all look.

For starters I gotta hand it to you on the choice of background for the way it reflects to the character and the way it just looks so perfect both for the details of the ship and the darker colors that actually help bring out the charms of Monika even more.  The darker theme of the background makes her shades of red and soft skin burst out in front of you, I love it!

I even admire too just the leather work on the body and just jaw dropping to you lad with how ideal you captured that skin tight shiny material, yowza!  The legs, breasts and even the arms too look even more thicker to the eyes and just wow what an absolute bombshell we have here!

What you do even better before is the way you bring her face to life with the bright shade of green for the eyes or the threading work done on the hair.  Don't know how you do the hair so damn wonderful like that but I just love seeing the thread work, the way it shine and even the added shading to give it a true feeling of some depth, bravo dude.

Looking closer I really enjoy the way you took to the gold just like her red making it stand out just as wonderful and heck even the damn bombs too are not only shaded well but the lighting from the fuse casting on the rounded portion of the explosive, you really outdone yourself here Reflex. *applauses and whistles*

I searched for pirate ships for the background, when I was almost complete with Red.  I turned it as dark as I could, without making it completely black, to make it go with the twilight/night darkness, and just hoped that it worked with her body angle.

The gradients of shade on the rounder parts gave them the weight and thickness I was going for, but I deleted and re-added to the two layers of shadows more than a few times.  I usually only do one layer of shadows, but I thought I would make this have a lot more detail and pop.

As far as her hair, that was luck, as always.  It's something I never really feel looks as good as I want.  And the more I saw other drawings of her, the more I wish I had done it a little differently, but it was too late by that point.

I paid a lot of attention and thought about how many different light sources there may be and what kind of color and ambient light that would cast on other things.  I think that made the cannonballs, especially, give the dimension that I was going for. I also added a slight blur to it, to get the feel of them flying through the air.

Creating the shine for the gold was my favorite part.  I had to stop myself from adding more shine bursts, so it wouldn't look like it was being overdone.

Thanks for noticing all the little tidbits I included to make this one stand out.

Oh don't worry dude, body angle is dandy and the background like you said it just flawlessly matches to her placement as well the shading to give it almost that foreboding effect while Monika takes the cake, lol.

That's pretty clever using two layers and actually I recently discovered the same idea of just two layers for the same lighting/shading effect.  Can only see now a much greater door opening for the both of us and heck its just baffling to see what a small change-up can make for a much more impressive picture eh?

Call it luck dude but you did manage to do it, even if just once.  Like I tell myself sometimes, if I can do this once before then I can do it again.  Might take alot of trial and error but you can't quit now boyo!

WOW, sounds like your really brainstorming when it comes to your effects lad, where can I get some of that?  Already looking to expand the style of my digital work further and by any means that's amazing your picking up so much details faster then I comment then lad, bravo to you dude. *nods*

Shine bursts are fine dude, you don't need to hold them back and if only just limit them with darker images.  They really help things like the hair and the suit stand out more and that's far better then you credit it for.  Just keep experimenting from what I can gather and no problemo in terms of cheering on your awesome extras lad, seems to be what I do around here. ^o^
