Currently working on Merican' lion, s. Fatalis and s. Gracilis for prehistoric predators of the past, and I was struggling with drawing the heads. I've been really practicing for quite some time now and I have finally gotten it right now! With no references used whatsoever.Special thanks to anonymousllama428 for the help on the old cave lion piece. Thanks to that one, I've learned a lot about coloration and patterning on lions. They're not plain and simple like the way you think.
There are still slight inconsistencies and inaccuracies in this image. Specifically the tear markings. And the length of the whisker pads.
